Three schools have already tabbed their new football leaders for 2019.

Enterprise hired Apopka (Fl.) head coach Rick Darlington as their new head man.

Darlington comes to Enterprise after 17 years in two different stints at Apopka (Fla.), where he had a 167-47 record and won three state titles (2001, 2012, 2014). He also coached at Valdosta (Ga.) High school, amassing a 26-14 in three seasons, including a state runner-up finish in 2003.

Overall, Darlington has a career record of 214-73, which also includes three years at Eustis (Fla.) from 1996-98. He also has served an assistant coach at Lakeland, Bay in Panama City and at Fort Meade, all in Florida.

Murphy High School in Mobile has named Rico Jackson of Escambia County in Atmore as their new head football coach.

After a 2-8 first year at Escambia County in 2017, Jackson led the Blue Devils to a 6-4 mark this past season – the school’s first winning record since 2010.

He is 43-33 in seven years as a head coach at Fairfield, Aliceville and Escambia County. He took Aliceville to the Class 2A championship game in 2016.

Cullman has selected one of their own in Oscar Glasscock as their new head football coach. Glasscock was hired to his first head coaching position in March when he accepted the job at Arab High School, compiling a 1-9 record in his first season with the Knights.

Glasscock graduated from Cullman High School in 1985 and playing under coaches Jerry Elmore, Jim Pyburn and Dale Cook. He returned to Cullman as an assistant coach for several years under head coaches Mike Bates and Mark Britton. He has also served as an assistant at Calera, Cordova, Hartselle and Mountain Brook.
