Assistant Coach

Chad Cochran

Oxford

Coach Chad Cochran was an All State player at Pell City, played in the Alabama-Mississippi All Star game and became a four year starter on the defensive line at the University of West Alabama. He has served as defensive line coach, defensive coordinator, as well as strength and conditioning coach at a number of schools over his 25 year career, including Mountain Brook, Talledega, Oak Mountain, Ohatchee and Pell City.

This year, Coach Cochran's defensive unit proved to be a cornerstone of Oxford’s exceptional season, leading the team to 13 wins, the seventh undefeated, untied regular season in school history, and a berth in the state semifinals. The Yellow Jackets allowed just 15.2 points per game, including a dominant midseason stretch where they surrendered only 6 points per game over seven consecutive victories. Their defensive aggressiveness was on full display in the Jackets’ 27-10 October victory over an undefeated Clay-Chalkville squad.

Beyond the field, Coach Cochran’s impact is reflected in the words of his players and fellow coaches. Senior Matthew Muncher shared, “Coach Cochran is a great mentor who brings out the best in those around him. He not only prepares us for football but also teaches life lessons that last forever.” Former Oxford coach Keith Etheredge, now the head coach at Auburn High, praised Cochran’s relentless work ethic and passion, calling him “the epitome of what a coach should be.”
