Head Coach

Jeff Kelly

Saraland

Great football seasons have become the norm for the Saraland Spartans under Coach Jeff Kelly. The Spartans had an incredible season in 2024, finishing with a 13-1 record and dominating Class 6A Region 1 with an undefeated 8-0 mark. Known for their explosive offense and tenacious defense, the Spartans averaged over 41 points per game.

Coach Kelly graduated from Citronelle High School in 1997, where he played quarterback for Coach Ronny Massey. After graduation, he played quarterback at the University of Southern Mississippi. Kelly started 38 consecutive Games for the Golden Eagles, setting multiple records.

He became a head Coach at 23 years old at Satsuma and had three successful years at Jackson before leaving to build the new Saraland program in 2011.

Coach Kelly’s career speaks volumes, with an overall record of 192-71. Over his 14 years at Saraland, he has transformed the program into a perennial contender, highlighted by five Super 7 appearances and a state championship in 2022. Over the past three seasons, Saraland has racked up 41 wins and continues to set the standard for success in Class 6A football.

Assistant Coach Brett Boutwell reflected, "Fourteen years ago, Jeff returned to Saraland to build this program, and what he’s done is nothing short of remarkable. His consistency and preparation set the tone for our success, and his love for the players and the game is unmatched. The town shuts down every Friday night because of what he’s built—it’s truly special."
